What Is TB-500 Peptide?
TB-500 is the research name for a synthetic peptide derived from thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4). It is sold as TB 500, TB-500 or occasionally "thymosin beta-4 fragment", and all three names point to the same idea: a shorter, lab-made version of a protein the body already produces in large amounts.
Thymosin beta-4 itself is a 43 amino acid protein. It was first isolated from calf thymus tissue by Allan Goldstein's group in the early 1980s, which is where the "thymosin" name comes from, but it turned out to be present in almost every cell type, with especially high levels in blood platelets and white blood cells. Its main job inside the cell is binding actin, the protein that forms the cell's internal scaffolding.
TB 500 and Thymosin Beta-4: Fragment vs Full Protein
Buyers often assume TB-500 and thymosin beta-4 are interchangeable. They are related but not identical. Much of thymosin beta-4's actin-binding activity is attributed to a short central region of the protein, around the sequence LKKTETQ at positions 17 to 23, and TB-500 peptides are designed around that active region rather than reproducing all 43 amino acids.
That difference matters when you read the literature. Most published studies, including the frequently cited wound healing and cardiac work, used full-length thymosin beta-4. Research on TB-500 draws on that body of work, but the fragment is its own compound. Check what a supplier is actually selling, and confirm it against the certificate of analysis for your lot.
What Does TB-500 Do? How TB-500 Works in Research
TB-500 is used in research to study the processes thymosin beta-4 regulates. The main areas are:
- Actin regulation. Thymosin beta-4 holds single actin molecules (G-actin) in reserve, controlling how quickly cells can build and rebuild their internal structure.
- Cell migration. Because cells move by reorganising actin, Tβ4 activity is closely linked to how cells migrate into damaged tissue. A 1999 study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology reported faster wound closure in rats treated with thymosin beta-4.
- Angiogenesis. Thymosin beta-4 has been studied for its role in the formation of new blood vessels, a key step in tissue repair.
- Cardiac models. A 2004 study published in Nature reported that thymosin beta-4 activated survival signalling in mouse heart cells after injury, work that brought the peptide wider attention.
Nearly all of this research is preclinical, in cell culture and animal models. Browse the papers, with links to each, in our thymosin beta-4 research library.
TB-500 10mg Vial
Chainwell Peptide supplies TB-500 in a single fill: a 10mg lyophilized vial. It is the standard research size for TB-500, and a 10mg fill is small enough to use inside the 28 day window after reconstitution, so little material is wasted if a study pauses.
The TB 500 10mg vial uses a 3 mL clear glass vial with a rubber stopper and blue flip-off cap, the same format as our BPC-157 10mg vial. Supplying it dry keeps the peptide stable in storage and transit, and it lets you set the concentration yourself when you reconstitute.
How to Reconstitute TB 500
To reconstitute TB 500, let the vial reach room temperature, wipe the stopper with an alcohol swab, and add bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall using a U-100 insulin syringe. Swirl gently until the solution is clear. Do not shake the vial, as that can damage the peptide chain.
Store the reconstituted vial at 2 to 8 °C, protected from light, and use it within 28 days. Our peptide reconstitution guide and calculator works out the concentration per mL for a 10mg vial.
TB-500 and BPC-157
TB-500 is most often researched alongside BPC-157, a 15 amino acid peptide from a gastric juice protein that is studied through different pathways. Our advice: if your study compares the two, order separate BPC-157 and TB-500 vials so each compound can be measured on its own. If your protocol already uses both at a fixed ratio, the BPC-157 and TB-500 Blend puts them in one 10mg vial. Our BPC-157 vs TB-500 guide compares them side by side, and KLOW combines TB-500 with BPC-157, GHK-Cu and KPV.
TB 500 Capsules and Oral TB-500
We supply TB-500 as a lyophilized vial only. Searches for TB 500 capsules and oral TB-500 are common, but unlike BPC-157, which published studies describe as stable in gastric juice, TB-500 has no established stability in the gut. That is why we do not sell a TB-500 capsule. If your research design specifically needs an oral peptide format, see our BPC-157 capsules.
Lab-Tested TB-500 With a COA for Every Lot
TB-500 is a name, not a specification, and quality varies more than most buyers expect. Every Chainwell Peptide TB-500 lot is sent to an independent laboratory before release, where identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry and purity is measured by HPLC. A lot that does not meet specification is not sold.
The lot number on your vial links it to that report on our COA lookup page. Our guide on how to read a certificate of analysis explains what each result means.

Unopened TB-500 keeps longest frozen at minus 20 °C in its carton, away from light. For work planned within a few weeks, a fridge at 2 to 8 °C is fine. Once reconstituted, refrigerate the vial and use it within 28 days. Our peptide storage guide covers handling in more detail.
Research Use Only
TB-500 is not approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration for any therapeutic use. Chainwell Peptide sells it strictly for laboratory and in vitro research. It is not for human or veterinary use, and we do not provide dosing advice. TB-500 and other thymosin beta-4 derivatives are also on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. By ordering you agree to our terms and conditions and research use only statement.

TB-500 FAQ
What is TB-500?
+
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment of thymosin beta-4, a 43 amino acid protein that binds actin inside almost every cell. It is studied in research on cell migration, wound healing and blood vessel formation. Chainwell Peptide supplies it as a 10mg lyophilized vial for laboratory research.
What is TB-500 used for in research?
+
TB-500 is used to study the processes thymosin beta-4 regulates: actin dynamics, cell migration into damaged tissue, angiogenesis and tissue repair. Almost all of the published work is preclinical, in cell culture and animal models, and TB-500 is not approved for any therapeutic use in Australia.
Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?
+
Not exactly. Thymosin beta-4 is the full 43 amino acid protein, while TB-500 is a synthetic fragment designed around its actin-binding region. Many cited studies used full-length thymosin beta-4, so check which compound a supplier sells and confirm it on the certificate of analysis for your lot.
Where can I buy TB-500 in Australia?
+
You can buy TB-500 in Australia from Chainwell Peptide as a 10mg lyophilized vial. Every lot carries a lot number matched to an independent certificate of analysis, and orders paid before 3pm on a business day ship the same day by standard or express post.
Do you sell TB-500 capsules?
+
No. TB-500 is supplied as a lyophilized vial only, because it has no established stability in gastric conditions. BPC-157 is the exception among research peptides, which is why we sell BPC-157 capsules. For TB-500 work, reconstitute the 10mg vial with bacteriostatic water.
Is Chainwell Peptide TB-500 lab tested?
+
Yes. Every TB-500 lot is tested by an independent laboratory before release, with identity confirmed by mass spectrometry and purity measured by HPLC. The lot number on your vial matches its certificate of analysis, which you can check on our COA lookup page before or after you order.
